Dear devotees & friends,

We thank all for your support and your co-operation in embracing our call for a greener environment during the Ullambana Festival. We continue to encourage you to refrain from bringing joss papers and other paper offerings for offerings to your ancestors. Instead, you may light to offer oil lamps In Buddhism, light is a powerful symbol representing wisdom and the illumination of the mind. Lighting an oil lamp is seen as illuminating the way forward, dispel darkness and eliminate ignorance.

The closing ceremony of the Ullambana Festival (盂蘭盆節) will be on Sunday, 21 September 2025 and will include The Yogacara Ulka-mukha (Puja) Dharma Service (施放瑜伽焰口). We will commemorate birthday of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva at the same time.

Medicine Buddha (aka The Buddha of Healing) Blessing Ceremony
南無藥師琉璃光如來聖诞法會

Medicine Buddha(藥師佛) made a vow to relieve all who call upon him from the troubles of the world. Apart from curing illness and warding calamites, the practice of the Medicine Buddha will help to overcome inner sickness and sufferings caused by greed, hatred and delusion. The Medicine Buddha is the Buddha of the Pure Land of the Eastern Paradise while the Amitabha Buddha is the Buddha of the Pure Land of the Western Paradise Through his devotion, we learn to practice compassion and loving kindness to the less fortunate and extend happiness to all sentient beings.

藥師琉璃光如來為東方淨琉璃世界之教主，與釋迦牟尼佛、阿彌陀佛合稱橫三世佛。

藥師佛於過去世行菩薩道時，曾發十二大願，願為眾生解除疾苦，使具足諸根，趨入解脫。故依此願而成佛，位於東方藥師淨琉璃世界，其佛國土莊嚴如極樂。

藥師佛為大醫王佛，救眾生之病源，治無明之痼疾，並能消除一切災業。

若至心皈依稱誦佛名，及讀誦藥師經，或持藥師咒，今生皆得病苦消除、身心安樂、家屬資具，悉皆豐足。

The Diamond Sutra 金剛經

From October 2025, we will include in our Sunday regular prayers, the recitation of the Diamond Sutra. This Sutra is one of the most sacred texts of the Mahayana Buddhism, recording a conversation between the Buddha and one of his great disciples, Subhuti, who is regarded as the foremost in understanding 'emptiness'. They discussed largely on human impermanence and the nature of reality itself and the transient nature of the world. The most powerful message:

"So you should view this fleeting world -

A star at dawn, a bubble in a stream,
A flash of lightning in a summer cloud,
A flickering lamp, a phantom, and a dream."

 

“金剛經” 的由來是指釋迦牟尼佛在古代印度（約公元前494年）為佛弟子須菩提宣說的經典。該經是大乘佛教般若部的經典，意為以金剛般堅銳的智慧，斷除一切無明煩惱，達到解脫彼岸。它闡述了「一切法自性皆空」的道理，強調破除我執和法執，心無所住方能成就佛道。 《金剛經》的好處主要體現在以下幾個方面：消除業障、增長福德、開啟智慧、消除煩惱、獲得內心的平靜和安寧，並透過對佛法的深入理解和持之以恆的修行，幫助人們看清事物的本質，減少執念，從而獲得解脫，達成究竟的幸福。

We encourage you to join us in the recitation of this Sutra to help us to better understand 'emptiness', thereby gaining merits and purifying our negative karma.
